We get lots of people who think they can buy the book. I gave a book to a guy and he asked if I had a nicer copy, and I thguhot, "hey, it's a library. what do you expect?" And when he asked where he had to pay to buy the book, I understood that he thguhot libraries were like book stores, but with really dirty, ugly used books.

You all have no idea what I have been through with MRSA. If I didn't live in the New England area, I would be dead now. In fact, I was for a while. I ceanrtctod MRSA in July 2006 as a byproduct of laparoscopic gall bladder surgery. I had some complications and had follow up lap surgery. The last thing that I remember is talking to my family until I woke up two weeks later. Apparently, I was subjected to emergency surgery and diagnosed with 1)sepsis, 2)toxic shock syndrome and 3)MRSA Enteritis. I have always been a nitpicker regarding sanitation. Heck, I won't eat from a salad bar or a potluck (even at my church!) I probably got it through a catheter or an IV. Apparently I coded for 5 minutes following a complete loss of body functions (heart, lung and kidneys) and then spent two weeks in a coma. I had a death experience and then came back. When I woke up, all that I could move were my fingers. Even though I was only 40 years old at the time, two weeks in a coma had devastated my body. I couldn't walk, talk, feed myself, or do anything else that would give me personal dignity. I am positive that my surgical team saved me because I was at a New England teaching hospital and they are on top of these things. I thank God for my survival.Since July 2006, I have had 14 surgeries. MRSA has come back on me twice even though I have tested negative. I have had severe intestinal blockages resulting in many bypasses and 1/2 loss of my small intestines. I do not absorb nutrients as before and I suffer from perpetual hemoglobin, B12 and calcium deficiencies. I cannot eat enough or absorb enough of the vital dietary components no matter what I do.Sometimes I feel as though I am living with cancer or another disease for which I could suffer a relapse. I no longer feel my toes in my left foot because the drugs used to rescucitate me compromised my circulatory system. I walk with a limp and have sever pain when it is cold. I have a handicap placard for this reason and so many people look at me funny because they think I am too young to have a real problem. Little does anyone know what pain I have been through. All I can say is that my faith and my humor are keeping me on the top side of the dirt. If there is anyone out there who needs to talk about what has happened to them, please contact me. I have been through it all, including swine flu etc.I believe that I am still here because there is more work for me to do. If you need support, contact me.
